Our Favorite Local Places to Eat Out

What are your favorite local restaurants to take kids to?

  • Alfredo's Pizza Villa (University Mall, Chapel Hill)
  • Bob Evans (5419 Durham Chapel Hill Blvd, Durham)
  • Boston Market (Eastgate Shopping Center, Chapel Hill; 3029 Auto Drive, Durham) because it's quick, but still has nutritious options.
  • Breadmen's (324 West Rosemary Street, Chapel Hill)
  • Chick-Fil-A (University Mall, Chapel Hill, Southpoint Mall, Durham, et al.) is quick and has nutritious options. Often gives a book or toy with the kid's meal.
  • Cici's Pizza (4600 Chapel Hill Blvd., Durham)
  • Elmo's Diner (Carr Mill Mall, 200 North Greensboro Street, Carrboro)
  • Foster's Market (750 Airport Road, Chapel Hill)
  • Jim's Famous BBQ (115 South Elliott Road, Chapel Hill)
  • K&W Cafeteria (201 South Estes Drive, Chapel Hill, next to University Mall)
  • Owens 501 Diner (1500 N Fordham Blvd., Chapel Hill) is our favorite. Great food and service. Paper and crayons for the kids.
  • Pizza Hut (109 South Estes Drive, Chapel Hill; 370 South Churton Street, Hillsborough) lunch buffet
  • Souper! Salad (202 West NC Highway 54, Durham; across from Homestead Market shopping center). It's always loud, so OK for kids to be noisy; and there are lots of fairly nutritious food choices. Kids eat free every Tuesday after 4 PM, and you get one free child's meal for each adult purchasing a buffet at the regular price.
