The Orange County, N.C. area has a wide
variety of preschool and "morning-out" options, including Montessori-,
Waldorf-, and Reggio Emilia-based programs; parent cooperatives;
church-based; and language-centered programs. Demand is high and
spaces fill quickly. Because many programs have long waiting lists,
we recommend you begin investigating your options early. Many programs
have application deadlines in January or February of the year you
wish your child to begin.
To help parents learn more, the Chapel
Hill/Carrboro Mothers Club hosts a preschool fair each
October, open both to club members and to the general public.
We invite all the local preschool programs that we are aware of.
School representatives are available to hand
out brochures and application materials and to answer questions.
The Mothers Club distributes a free booklet containing a profile
of each school. These profiles also appear on our website (see
"Local Area Preschools") The Mothers
Club does not endorse any of these schools; it hosts the fair solely
to inform parents about the available options.
The 2009 Mothers Club Preschool Fair will be held on Saturday, October 10 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. in a new location, Century Hall of The Carrboro Century Center.
For additional information, please contact our
preschool fair coordinator, Sadie Baur.
