March 2012 Project

Please join us at Carolina Meadows for a fun story time event on Wednesday March 21st at 4 PM. Bring books you and your children are finished with to donate to Book Harvest and enjoy stories, a craft, and snacks with the residents (who always love to have your children visit- big or small!).  E-mail Kara Hume with any questions, karahume@aol.com. Hope to see you there!

Each quarter the Service Committee organizes a child-friendly service project for Mother’s Club members and their children. These include making crafts with local nursing home residents, putting together bags of school supplies for area children, and working with local and national agencies like TABLE and St. Jude Medical Center. Recently we’ve: assembled 112 supply bags to donate to local teachers filled with materials they will need throughout the year (and often have to purchase on their own); sent boxes of stuffed animals to children in crisis around the world; and made holiday cards with dozens of residents at Carolina Meadows.

The other months the service committee provides a family-friendly service suggestion that you can attend/complete on your own with family & friends. Please see your monthly newsletter for all of  the details.

If you have a service project idea or a service suggestion, please contact a service committee member. Items for publication in the newsletter must be finalized by the 20th of the month prior to publication (i.e. September’s event must be finalized by August 20th for newsletter publication). Thank you for all of your generous support!

Service Committee Suggestion

Participate in the Harris Teeter Together in Education Program!

This is such an easy program to give back to the community!

Harris Teeter’s Together in Education (TIE) program is a fund raising program for schools (and preschools) in our community. When you purchase select Harris Teeter Brand products using your VIC card, Harris Teeter will contribute a percentage of those purchase dollars to the school of your choice. You must sign up and link your VIC card every year and you can link your card to up to 5 schools—funds will be evenly distributed to the schools. Support your child’s school or if your child is not in school yet, support your district school or another one of our local schools:
Simply give the cashier your VIC Card and the school’s Together In Education number (a list of schools and their numbers is available on www.harristeeter.com during checkout.)
OR
Get your VIC card and go online to:

http://www.harristeeter.com/community/together_in_education/link_to_your_school.aspx (you can also Google ―link VIC card‖ and click on ―Harris Teeter – Link to Your School‖)

If you have any questions about this or upcoming service events, please contact our service committee.
